Kuala Lumpur, 01 Sya’ban 1437/08 May 2016 (MINA) – Malaysian male reciter, Wan Ainuddin Hilmi Abdullah and female reciter, Nor Azrah Ayub emerged champions at the 58th International Tilawah and Hafazan Quran Competition at the Putra World Trade Centre here, Saturday night.

They each received gold pieces worth RM70,000 sponsored by the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM), a trophy and RM40,000 in cash, Bernama was quoted by Mi’raj Islmic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Wan Ainuddin Hilmi, who was runner-up in the competition held last year, scored 94.8 per cent, while Nor Azrah obtained 91 per cent.

Runner-up in the men’s category was Awangku Muhd Adibul Amin Pengiran from Brunei who scored 90.2 per cent while Awaludin Mohor of Indonesian took third placing with a score of 86.8 per cent.

Indonesian female reciter Mastia Lestaluhu was runner up with 87.5 per cent, while Siti Huzzaimah Yadey Rosli from Brunei managed 85.9 per cent to secure third placing.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom presented prizes to the male winners for the Quran recitation and memorisation categories while his wife, Datin Seri Fatmawati Saidin gave away prizes to the female winners.
