Makkah Governor Leads Kaaba Washing

Jeddah, MINA – On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal led Monday the ceremonial washing of the Holy Kaaba in the presence of several Saudi officials and Muslim diplomats.

Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Jeddah Wael Al-Hathal was present in the holy ceremony.

The Holy Kaaba, to which Muslims all over the world turn while praying, is washed twice a year in the hijri months of Muharram and Shaaban using Zamzam water mixed with rosewater.

The ceremonial washing of Kaaba is held following the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who washed it after entering it at the time of the conquest of Makkah. (T/RS5/RS1)
