Japan Assists IDR 224 Billion to Palestine

Ramallah, MINA – The Japanese government provided grant assistance around IDR 224 Billion (US $16 million) to Palestine.

Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and Japanese Ambassador Takeshi Okubo signed the aid agreement in Ramallah on Wednesday, Ma’an News reported.

The Prime Minister’s office said in a press release that a total of $15.93 million US dollars would be allocated for handling the transportation system and managing waste.

The project would be coordinated by the Joint Service Council (JSC), which consists of the Municipal Government and Village Council Regional Units, with the provision of equipment and vehicles for waste management.

The agreement will contribute to improving the environment in residential areas, protecting the natural environment and improving government services for local communities.

The Japanese government will also increase assistance to Palestine through the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA). (R/Sj/R04)
