ITALIAN PROTESTERS CONDEMN ISRAELI AGGRESSION AGAINST GAZA

Rome, 28 Ramadan 1435/26 July 2014 (MINA) – Thousands of protesters demonstrated in the Italian capital Rome yesterday to denounce the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip which entered its third week and led to the killing of hundreds of civilians, the Anadolu news agency reported.

The protest was organised by the Palestine Solidarity Association as well as other civil society groups, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Saturday.

The protesters gathered in the Vittorio Square and marched towards the Tiburtina Square amid tight security measures to prevent any clashes.

The protesters chanted slogans against the Israeli aggression, including “stop the killing of innocent children”, “free Palestine”, “freedom for Gaza” and “stop the bombing of Gaza”.

Organisers said the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since 2009 has is nearly 2,000 and demanded the international community take immediate action to stop the Israeli aggression against the enclave.

They also said that they intend to organise a similar protests tomorrow at 6pm local time, in front of the Roman amphitheatre.

Israel began an intense assault on the Gaza Strip 18 days ago which led to the killing of 828 Palestinians and wounded over 5,300 others.
