Israeli Police Close All Complex Al-Aqsa Doors and Attack Jamaah

Al-Quds, MINA – Israeli forces closed all entrances to the Al-Aqsa Mosque Complex in Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) and attacked Muslim worshipers on Tuesday.

“Dozens of Israeli police stormed the Al-Aqsa Complex and attacked several religious leaders,” Firas Al-Dibs, a spokesman for the Jerusalem Religious Waqf Authority, an institution run by the Kingdom of Jordan, is tasked with overseeing Muslim and Christian sites in the city.

According to Al-Dibs, the Director of the Al-Aqsa Omar Kiswani Mosque and Sheikh Wasef Al-Bakri, chief justice of the Jerusalem Islamic Court, were among those who were attacked by Israeli police.

He said police officers holding sticks attacked dozens of Muslim worshipers near the Al-Aqsa Complex, Dome of the Rock.

“At least five Palestinians were arrested before being detained for further investigation,” Al-Dibs said.

Harry Fawcett from Al Jazeera reported from Al-Quds, according to Israeli police, Molotov cocktails were thrown at a police post inside the compound and caught fire.

“What happened after that was some pretty clear clashes took place between Israeli security forces and Palestinian worshipers,” Fawcett said. (T/Sj/P2)
