ISRAEL SABOTAGES EVERY PEACE EFFORTS: ANALYST
Ramallah, Occupied West Bank, 22 Ramadan 1435/20 July 2014 (MINA) – The Israeli occupation regime has killed every chance of a settlement of the conflict in the occupied Palestinian lands by sabotaging peace efforts, an analyst tells Press TV.
“The reality is that Israel occupation is trying to manage perceptions and so it wants to be on the side of the peace. At the same time it sabotages peace,” Danny Schechter told Press TV in an interview.
The remarks by this analyst come against the backdrop of continuing Israeli aggression on Palestinians in Gaza. At least, 334 people are confirmed dead and nearly 2,400 more injured since Tel Aviv unleashed its offensive 12 days ago.
He said Israeli Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his rightist allies “want no agreement and no settlement,” Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Sunday.
“Two states solution is dead now. The peace efforts that have been going on forever to try to bring about some sort of an agreement between Palestinians and Israel have been sabotaged in part,” said Schechter.
He added that there has been no reliable third party to negotiate peace in the Palestinian lands, adding, “Egypt is hardly a credible third party in all of this.”
Egypt recently proposed a ceasefire between Tel Aviv and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas to end the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip. Hamas rejected the proposal, saying no agreement had been reached on the truce.
Schechter also said Israeli occupation propaganda machine is covering up its crimes against Palestinian civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
“Israel occupation has a great skill at what they call ‘perception management’. They have a big network to try to get their viewpoint across in the world but also to try to block anyone else’s viewpoint,” he said.
Schechter noted that foreign media, controlled by Zionist lobbies, report to their viewers that the Israeli regime is “on the defensive,” without referring to “civilian casualties” in the Gaza Strip. (T/E01/IR)
