Gaza, MINA – Israeli occupation authorities have decided to reduce Gaza’s fishing zone to six nautical miles from Tuesday, chair of the Gaza Fishermen’s Union Nizar Ayash said yesterday.

Speaking to Al-Resalah newspaper, Ayash said that the Israeli occupation would reduce the fishing zone from nine to six nautical miles.

The official added that the fishing zone was expanded to nine nautical miles six weeks ago, noting that the Israeli occupation had told Palestinian officials that the expansion would last only six weeks.

Yesterday, the Israeli navy opened fire at Palestinian fishermen who exceeded the six-mile limit, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reported.
