Israel Finalizes Apartheid Wall Around Palestinian Village Of Walaja
Occupied Jerusalem, 29 Rajab 1438/ 26 April 2017 (MINA) – The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) installed an electronic wall around the Palestinian village of al-Walaja, in Occupied Jerusalem, finalizing an apartheid fence engulfing the area from all corners.
Member of al-Walaja Village Council, Omar Hajajla, said the Israeli army has closed off Ein Jweizah neighborhood with an electronic wall as part of underway efforts to fence off al-Walaja,the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.
According to Mr. Issa, the Palestinian natives of al-Walaja can now enter the area only through the access road to Har Gilo settlement outpost.
Following the mass exodus of 1948, al-Walaja inhabitants had been forcibly deported from their homes to such neighboring countries as Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. Statistics-based studies estimate that 30,000 Palestinians from al-Walaja are taking shelter outside the village.
Over recent months, the Israeli authorities issued 100 demolition orders in al-Walaja, home to 2,500 inhabitants. 36 homes had already been demolished.
He urged the concerned bodies to rally round al-Walaja inhabitants and take urge actions vis-à-vis Israel’s ethnic cleansing schemes in the area.(T/R04/RS5)
