ISRAEL BANS PALESTINIAN MINISTER TO ENTER GAZA

Gaza, 20 Dzulqo’dah 1435/14 September 2014 (MINA) – Israel banned Palestinian Minister of Education, Khawla Shakhsheer to enter Gaza Strip to open the new school year 2014/2015 in the blockaded area.

The minister said that the ban on Sunday morning was a proof of  injustice done by Israel against Palestinian people to get their right in education, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in Gaza reported.

According to Shakhsheer, the ban was a serious violation of rights cosidered in all international conventions and and humanity. Right of education is fundamental thing. All countries in the world guarantee it.

The Minister asked all parties and relevant agencies to support the rights of education for Palestinian people.

“Israeli policies aimed to make fools Palestinian people. Education is one of the most important pillar in increasing the society,” said Shakhsheer.

Palestinian government cooperated with UN refugee agency (UNRWA) started learning activity in Gaza whereas many refugees are living in the UNRWA schools after their home were destroyed by the latest Israeli attacks.

Palestinian Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Ziad Thabit, said that the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip damaged more than 180 state schools, UN schools and private schools.

There were schools need to be renovated before it be used again at the beginning of the school year, he said. (L/K01/R04/P009/R03)
