Indonesian FM Attends OIC Summit in Jeddah

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi attended Foreign Minister Level Meeting and 14th Meeting of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) in Jeddah and Mecca (Instagram)

Jeddah, MINA – Indonesian Foreign Minister (FM) Retno LP Marsudi attended Foreign Minister Level Meeting and 14th Meeting of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) in Jeddah and Mecca which took place on May 29-31.

On the sidelines of the 14th OIC Summit, Foreign Minister Retno held bilateral meetings with OIC member countries by discussing various issues, including Palestinians and Rohingya.

First, Retno met with Bangladesh FM AK Abdul Momen. They discussed the efforts to repatriate Rohingya refugees from Cox’s Bazar to Rakhine State in Myanmar.

Retno underlined the importance of repatriating safe, voluntary and dignified Rohingya refugees from Cox Bazar to Rakhine State.

She added that sharing progress on ASEAN’s practical efforts to help prepare for the repatriation.

Second, Retno held a bilateral meeting with Pakistani FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi. They had discussed the issue of Palestine and Afghanistan.

“We are both committed to support Palestine. We are also committed to bring peace in Afghanistan, “Retno said.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Retno held a meeting with Saudi FM Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf in Jeddah.

The two foreign ministers discussed preparation of formation of the Indonesia-Saudi Arabia Leadership Council and also discussed cooperation between Aramco-Pertamina and agreed to encourage the technical team to meet. (T/Sj/R04)
