Indonesia Targets Electric Vehicles Fully Produced in 2025

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesia government targets electric vehicles, both motorbikes and cars will be produced fully in 2025.

Indonesia is preparing fiscal infrastructure and facilities to support electric motor vehicle industryl.

“Electric motorbikes are one of them. If they are simpler in a practical, we will deliver the target in 2025 both motorbike and car into 20 percent in total using electricity,” said Indonesian Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto to reporters after meeting at the President’s Office, Jakarta, Monday.

What the government does in the near future, according to the Minister of Industry, is to prepare a Presidential Regulation for its fiscal policy plus the eligible requirements to use the facility.

Because the initial stage will definitely start with 0 (zero) percent import duty for this electric vehicle-based.

Airlangga also said that the government open to foreign electric motor vehicle brand holders who would enter Indonesia.

“What is opened is a system and facilities whether it wants all new brand or brand holders,” he said, adding that also applies to hybrid and electric vehicles.

When asked by reporters about when the Presidential Regulation concerning the electric motor vehicle signed, the Minister of Industry said, after this is resolved, of course there is a consultation between the finance minister and the House of Representatives Commission XI, only then could it work.

But the Minister of Industry acknowledged, for electric motorbikes there are various brands already produced. So that if the Presidential Regulation is clear, then this will be driven. “Yes, God willing in the near future,” he said. (R/Sj/R04)
