Indonesia Sets Conservative Target in Asian Games

Palembang, South Sumatra, MINA — Host Indonesia has sets a conservative target in the Asian games to be held in Palembang and Jakarta next month, Antara News reported.

“Our target is in the top ten. Thank God if we rank in the 8 largest,” President Joko Widodo said here when inspecting the readiness of the preparation of the facilities of the Asia`s largest sport event.

The president said construction of the venues of the games had been 99 percent completed.

Jokowi said Indonesia has to improve its achievements in the 2018 Asian Games.

He said the Ministry of Sports has a list of sport branches in which the country hopes to win gold medals.

The president expressed concern with possible forest fires that could disrupt the games with thick haze of smokes.

He passed order to police and the military to prevent criminal act of setting fire on the forests.

“We don`t want forest fire not only during but also after the Asian Games,” he said.
