Jakarta, MINA – Indonesia recorded a foreign trade surplus of US$0.13 billion in November 2017, Antara News reported, quoting the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

“The surplus in November is far below that of October and September, when it was recorded at $1 billion and $1.78 billion respectively,” BPS Chief Suhariyanto said in a press conference here on Friday.

The November surplus of $1.09 billion mostly came from non-oil/non-gas exports.

Overall, Indonesia`s trade balance in the January-November 2017 period showed an upward trend, and only in July did the country see a trade deficit of $0.27 billion, Suhariyanto noted.

Cumulatively, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of $12.02 billion for the year ending November 30, 2017, he said.

The country`s trade balance for the year, up to November 30, is far better than that of the same period in the previous four years, he added.

Indonesia suffered a deficit in its trade with China and Thailand, while it enjoyed a surplus in its trade with India, the United States, and the Netherlands.

Earlier, the trade ministry said it would always try to improve the competency of the country`s labor force, especially in the export and import sector, by organizing a pre-convention of a draft for a national work competency standard. (T/RS5/RS1)
