Jakarta, 16 Rabiul Akhir 1437/26 January 2016 (MINA) – The Indonesian Information and Communication Ministry has seriously attempted to block websites created by militants to spread radicalism in the country, a minister said on Monday.
Minister of Information and Communication Rudiantara disclosed that over 780,000 websites with militancy missions and porn have been blocked in recent years, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted scmp.com as reporting.
However, new websites keep emerging more frequently after the blocking, he said.
“The websites and social media accounts containing radicalism have kept emerging sharply since December 2015,” Rudiantara said.

“When we blocked one website, another website will emerge with different performance,” he said.
Therefore, the ministry of information and communication will continuously monitor the websites containing radicalism.
“The panel in the information and communication ministry keeps conducting monitoring,” said Rudiantara.
The ministry is available to accept complaint and ready for coordination with security authority, he said.
