IMF-WB Meetings to Promote Indonesia at Global Level

Indonesia gears up for IMF, World Bank annual meetings.

Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, MINA – The International Monetary Fund-World Bank (IMF-WB) Annual Meetings scheduled in Bali on October 2018 will promote Indonesia’s economic potential at the global level, Antara News quoted Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Panjaitan as saying.

“The meeting can offer several benefits to Indonesia, including promoting it at the international level,” Panjaitan noted here last Thursday.

The minister had undertaken a tour of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone along with Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani and Governor of Indonesia Central Bank Agus Martowardojo.

According to Panjaitan, at least 20 thousand delegations will attend the meeting. The participants will visit Mandalika, Lombok Island.

Panjaitan noted that Executive Director of IMF Christine Lagarde had lauded Indonesia`s economic growth.

“The IMF also recognized the efforts of Mulyani and Martowardojo in maintaining a balance between the monetary and fiscal sectors. The good condition has caused the inflation to reduce and economic growth to occur,” Panjaitan pointed out.

Panjaitan also opined that the Indonesian government still faced challenges in areas, including the education sector.

Besides this, the IMF also views the market in Indonesia as having high potential in future.

Moreover, he noted that development of the Mandalika Special Economy Zone in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province, had shown good progress.

The government plans to complete the development of the tourism area in Mandalika in September 2018. (T/RS5/RS1)
