IMAAMUL MUSLIMIN ANNOUNCES 1 SYAWWAL WILL BE ON 8 AUGUST

       Jakarta, 30 Ramadan 1434 / 7 August 2013 (MINA) – Imaamul Muslimin Muhyiddin Hamidy has decided that Ramadan will be fulfilled for 30 days, and Eid ul-Fitr will be on Thursday (8/8). It was because the new moon of Syawal unvisible on Tuesday 29 Ramadan.

      Hisab and rukyat team from Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah) on Tuesday has received a report of Rukyat result from Indonesia and other Muslim countries.
      Including rukyat reports from indonesian volunteers in Gaza Beach, Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday night time in Indonesia. Rukyat in Gaza team consists of nine people, led by Ir. Edy Wahyudi could not see the new moon.
      “Under the guidance of Allah and His Messenger, in order that the Muslims start and end of Ramadan by seeing the moon, and because the new moon was unseen, then with the help of Allah we determine Ramadan for 30 days, Eid ul-Fitr 1 Syawal will be on Thursday,” said Muhyiddin Hamidy as received by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).
      Amir Hisab and Rukyat Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah) Ustadz KH Marsa’i Abu Mochtar said that according to the whole calculation, many experts showed  ijtima (The moon and the sun meet on a straight line) is on Wednesday 30 Ramadan 1434.
      “Seeing the moon on Tuesday night or Wednesday is impossible because the new moon still under the horozon,” he said.

      Marsa’i added that based on the calculation of reckoning the sun and moon by Sheikh Alauddin Ibn Syathir, it shows that on Thursday, 8 August 2013 will be the beginning of Syawwal 1434 H.

      According to him, ijtima occurred on Wednesday morning at 4:38 early morning and  located at Buruj Al Asad 14 degrees 12 daqiqah and in manzilah An-Nasyrah 12 degrees 12 daqiqah.

        “So rukyatul hilal on Tuesday afternoon may not be visible because the moon sets earlier than the sun by margin of 21 minutes in Jakarta, Indonesia or below the horizon (ufuk) of 5 degrees 15 daqiqah,” he explained.

         The rukyatul hilal on Wednesday afternoon (7/8) may be seen with the naked eye because the moon has appeared over the horizon in Jakarta with a height of 6 degrees 41 daqiqah. The moon can be seen for 26 minutes 44 seconds. While the moon lies in the position of Buruj Al Asad 20 degrees 53 daqiqah and in- manzilah Tharfah At 4 degrees 53 daqiqah, in the north sloping to south.

        “Insha Allah, the month of Ramadan will be 30 days, so Eid pray will be on Thursday, 8 August 2013,” Marsa’I said.

        According to him, considering rukyatul hilal is the command of Allah, then his team  to hold rukyatul hilal on Tuesday 29th of Ramadan coincided on 6 August 2013.

       Marsa’i (78), known as one of the falaq experts say, there are two kinds of falaq. The first is derived from Islamic scholars or experts called Shar’I reckoning.

       Second is Falaq astronom, which derived from Greek philosophers such as Phiithagoras, referred as modern reckoning.

      “This modern hisab (falaq astronom) becomes very popular now, which is sometimes considered more powerful than rukyatul hilal,” he explained (L/P05/P04).
