Tel Aviv, MINA – Hundreds of Israelis gathered in protest on Wednesday outside Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, demanding the release of Israeli captives held by Palestinian factions in Gaza.
The protest coincided with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled visit to Hungary.
The demonstrators carried banners calling for the immediate return of hostages held by Hamas.
The families of the captives voiced their concerns about Israel’s escalating military offensive in Gaza, warning that the expansion of military operations endangers the lives of their loved ones.

In a statement, they expressed horror at the announcement of further military action in Gaza, questioning whether the government intended to sacrifice the hostages for territorial gain.
Netanyahu’s visit to Hungary is set for Wednesday evening, but the protests were sparked by the recent decision to intensify Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which has already resulted in significant casualties.
Over the past two days, Israeli forces have ordered evacuations in northern and southern Gaza, further exacerbating the dire humanitarian situation.
The ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, which began with aerial bombardments on March 18, has resulted in more than 1,000 deaths and over 2,000 injuries. []
