Hamas Delegation Meets Lebanese President, Speaker in Beirut

Beirut, MINA – Lebanese president Michel Aoun on Thursday met with a high-level delegation from the Hamas Movement led by political bureau member and head of the Arab and Islamic relations in the Movement, Ezzat al-Resheq, in Beirut for a discussion of different issues concerning the Palestinian cause.

Senior Hamas official Ra’fat Murra stated in press remarks that the delegation’s visit to Lebanon was part of his Movement’s efforts to communicate with the main Lebanese political leaders and put them in the picture of the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, especially with regard to the national reconciliation, PIC reported.

Murra added that the visit was also aimed at discussing with the Lebanese leaders the situation in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

The Hamas delegation affirmed during its meetings with Lebanese leaders that the Movement would remain keen on sparing the Palestinian presence in Lebanon any internal conflict and would continue its efforts to preserve security and stability in the refugee camps in the country.

Later, the Hamas delegation also had the chance to meet with parliament speaker Nabih Berri and discussed with him different issues of mutual interest.(R/R04/RS5)
