Gaza, MINA – Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, on Saturday condemned a decision issued by the so-called Magistrates Court to shut down the Awqaf department offices inside al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Hamas’s spokesman, Fawzi Barhoum, said in a press statement that the decision constitutes a new violation added to Israel’s long record of violations committed against Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque.

Barhoum affirmed that the decision is aimed at imposing full Israeli security control over al-Aqsa Mosque as part of a plan to change the status quo in the site.

He called on the Jerusalemite people, Palestinian factions, and decision-makers in the region to intensify efforts to confront such plans and establish a unified strategy to protect Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque and put an end to the Israeli violations.(R/R04/RS5)
