Gaza, 9 Ramadhan 1435/7 Juli 2014 (MINA) – Thousands of Palestinians have staged a demonstration in the Gaza Strip to express their outrage over the burning alive of a Palestinian teen at the hands of Israeli occupation settlers.

Protesters marched in the town of Rafah, near the Egyptian border, on Sunday night. The rally was called by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. They burned the Israeli flag and promised to retaliate, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Monday.

Tensions heightened between Palestinians and Israelis after the burning alive of a Palestinian teen in East al-Quds last week.

The 16-year-old teenager, Mohammed Abu Khdeir, was bundled into a car and later burnt to death by Israeli settlers.

His death has sparked a wave of protests across the Palestinian territories. Israel occupation has arrested six settlers in connection with the murder, who have reportedly confessed to their crime.

Early on Monday, Israel occupation carried out fresh airstrikes on the besieged enclave, killing seven members of Hamas’ military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri blamed Tel Aviv for a “grave escalation” in violence and vowed to retaliate, saying Israel “will pay the price.”

The president of the Palestinian national unity government, Mahmoud Abbas, on Sunday called for an international investigation into the Israeli occupation crimes. (T/P012/E01)
