Gaza, 26 Jumadil Akhir 1438/25 March 2017 (MINA) – A comprehensive program of protest steps will be announced and launched during the coming days against the UNRWA’s attempts to make changes in its school curriculums that would affect the national identity.

The protest program will be organized by the executive office of the Popular Committees in Gaza refugee camps and the Supreme Council of Parents, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

In a press release on Friday, the executive office and the council of parents stated that the protest steps aim to reject all attempts to obliterate and dilute the Palestinian national identity in UNRWA school books.

They described the UNRWA’s decision in this regard as “fully consistent with the Israeli occupation’s attempts to erase the Palestinian people’s national identity and legitimate rights, especially the right of return.”

They demanded the UNRWA to clarify its position on the matter and issue orders to its administration in Gaza to refrain from taking steps intended to change some contents of elementary school books.(T/R04/RS5)
