Four-Day ‘Indonesia-Middle East Annual Gathering’ in Yogyakarta From Oct.20

 

Dubai, MINA — The Widodo Administration has scheduled a special business and trade forum/exhibition for UAE and Middle East businessmen and investors in Yogyakarta, Java on Oct. 20 to 23.

The Gulf Today learnt about this when Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE Husin Bagis formally introduced new Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates Ridwan Hassan before the UAE business community, a big number of which has been long-time trading partners of Indonesian small-medium-large industry players to the world.

Interviewed from the recently held business affair, wherein the Indonesian Ladies Association in Abu Dhabi performed an ensemble of traditional and modern music with the angklung bamboo instrument, Hassan said the special business and trade forum/exhibition will be known as the “Indonesia-Middle East Annual Gathering.”

The theme is “Batik and Handicrafts” as interpreted in all the wood and leather-based goods and products by the artisans and artists of Yogyakarta, the city still ruled by monarchy.

With investment, tourism and other export commodities also in focus, the event is being organised by Jakarta’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is to create more trading partnerships and opportunities between Indonesian businessmen/traders with their counterparts specifically in Africa and Central Asia.

The UAE and particularly Dubai serves as the hub and so the announcement.

Moreover, UAE-based businessmen and traders have also been repeat attendees to the annual “Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI).”

Now on its 33rd year, TEI with the theme “Creating Products for Global Opportunities” will be held on Oct. 24 to 28 in Tangerang, west of Jakarta and classified as the industrial and manufacturing centre of Java Island.

Total value of memorandum of understanding signed by 37 buying missions from 19 countries with their Indonesian partners at the TEI 2016 and 2017 editions were at $207.9 million and $231.87 million, respectively.

Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelago and home to 260 million people is among the G-20 members with a gross domestic product of $1 trillion in 2017, according to Ambassador Bagis.

 

The best selling

Data, released by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia-Trade Promotion Centre in Dubai, had revealed that total trade value of the country in 2017 was at $3,707,183.2.

The “best selling” products that year to the world including the UAE and the Middle East were furniture (27 per cent), processed food (19 per cent), spices (11 per cent), essential oils and building materials (nine per cent), agricultural and fisheries products (seven per cent), footwear (six per cent), and auto components (five per cent).
