For the Firstime US Againsts UN Resolution Calling on Israel

New York, MINA – For the first time, the United States (US) on Friday, voted against a UN resolution calling on Israel to withdraw from the Golan Heights.

So far, the US has always chosen to abstain from voting about Israel’s position in the region of Syria’s border.

The resolutions passed with 151 supports, two opposed (Israel and the US) and 14 abstentions. That is one of nine anti-Israel resolutions passed by the United Nations in one day, the Times of Israel reported, quoted by MINA.

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon thanked the US decision.

“The United Nations must face a Syrian civil war. Itu ia not a meaningless decision that will not affect Israel’s sovereignty in the Golan Heights,” Danon said.

During the debate at the UN, the Syrian vowed that Damascus government would retake the Golan Heights from Israel in a peaceful or war way.
The US announced its policy changes ahead of the vote on the resolution “The Occupied Syrian Golan”.

“The resolution is clearly biased towards Israel,” US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in a statement. (T/Sj/RS5)
