London, 16 Muharram 1437/29 October 2015 (MINA) – The London-based Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR) has strongly denounced the recent Israeli prison order against Sheikh Ra’ed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement in the 1948 occupied lands, on allegations of his incitement to violence and racism.

Sheikh Salah, who was sentenced in connection with a khutba (sermon) he delivered in 2007 in Occupied Jerusalem, will start serving his 11-month prison term in November, according to the court ruling issued against him last Tuesday, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

In a press release on Wednesday, the AOHR stated that the charges that had been leveled against Sheikh Salah were part of ongoing Israeli measures targeting him for his prominent role in defending the Aqsa Mosque against Israel’s Judaization plans.

The British group pointed out that it was not sufficient for Israel to prosecute Sheikh Salah at home, but its Zionist lobby in Britain managed in 2011 to extract a verdict from the home office (interior ministry) ordering his deportation on allegations that his presence in London was against the public interest.

It added that at the time, Sheikh Salah was arrested after his refusal to yield to the expulsion order and then he engaged in a legal battle for a whole year before he achieved a court victory over the Israeli lobby and its supporters at the Upper Tribunal in London.(T/P008/R04)
