Jakarta, MINA – The Embassy of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Jakarta collaborated with Al-Azhar University of Indonesia (UAI) held a film-watching event of “UAE History,” on Tuesday (10/12).

The event which was held in commemoration of the 48th National Day of the UAE at the Arifin Panegoro Auditorium at Al-Azhar University, Indonesia.

The event was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Mohammed Abdulla Al-Ghfeli, Chancellor of UAI Prof. Dr. Asep Saefudin, a number of UAE diplomats, lecturers, academics, and around 300 students.

In his remarks, the Chancellor of UAI emphasized the good fraternal relations between the Republic of Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates, where both countries have the same attention to the importance of tolerance.

Prof. Saefudin also congratulated the UAE government for choosing 2019 as the Year of Tolerance, while emphasizing the teachings of Islam as a blessing for all nature.

“This is the initial door of the cooperation we will build for the development of Islam, science and technology,” said Prof. Saefudin.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. In his remarks, Mohammed Abdulla Al-Ghfeli conveyed that the screening of the film was expected to provide an overview of the history that became the foundation for modernization, development, and progress achieved by the United Arab Emirates.

According to the UAE Ambassador, his country has witnessed the transformation of Bedouin community into a developed society, but still upholds its cultural heritage, tradition, and its Arab and Islamic identity as a whole.

The UAE Ambassador expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Chancellor of Al-Azhar University of Indonesia and his team for their extraordinary cooperation in preparing for the film-watching program about the history of the United Arab Emirates.

The Student of Arabic Literature at Al-Azhar University of Indonesia, Hanady, said that he was very impressed with the film that opened up insights on the history of geography, culture, and technological developments in the UAE.

“I hope the value of enthusiasm in this film can spread to students to build a more developed nation,” he added.

On December 2, 1971, the United Arab Emirates State was formed. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven emirates that are rich in petroleum. The seven emirates are: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al-Qaiwain. The UAE is home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa Tower. (T/Sj/P2)
