Activities of Peace Transcending Religions Echoed in Indonesia

Jakarta, 4 Rabi’ul Akhir 1438/3 Januari 2017 (MINA) – Activities for the achievement of peace and tolerance in Indonesia, an effort that becomes the main focus of the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL),  has achieved very significant results compared to the previous  years even though religious conflict sometimes coloring harmony in the archipelago.

World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office summit, an innovative approach to Peace Dialogue,  is held regularly in Indonesia where religious leaders of various faiths come together to find answers in their scriptures about each subject from Medan to Macassar and Surabaya in total, 40 times. Since 2015, 103 religious leaders have participated in the summit.

The PGI (Indonesian Protestant Union) member attending the 3rd WARP Office in Makassar said, “We must find a reliable classic that based on the scriptures of each religion to achieve peace. We must study what is essential in each scripture.” and he supported the activity of the WARP Office.

In a statement, Kasunosu Darianto (Secretary of East Asian dialogue in Indonesia) who attended the WARP Office in Surabaya three times said that “I think that if we can find one core content, we will be able to get together, I will join in the search for a reliable scripture to find what is going on.”

This WARP Office is now expanding to over 190 countries from over 90 countries. HWPL Chairman Man-hee Lee (Chairman Lee) said that “Religious people gathered in WARP office to be one, and they are doing a comparative study of religions. It is what must be done” and they are working to achieve the goal of HWPL as stated by Chairman Lee .

Chairman Lee made a civil peace agreement between Catholics and Islam in the Mindanao island of the Philippines, which is considered the biggest conflict area in Asia.

He played a crucial role in ending the 40-year bloody conflict, bringing about an official peace agreement between the government and the others. (L/R01/RS05)
