Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir meets with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Bethlehem, 16 Syawal 1437/21 July 2016 (MINA)  – President Mahmoud Abbas laid the cornerstone for the Palestinian embassy in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum during a ceremony on Wednesday, according to the PA-owned news agency WAFA.

Numerous Sudanese officials attended the ceremony.

Also present in the ceremony were Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad al-Malki, Chief Justice of Palestine and the Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud al-Habbas, in addition to several other government officials and Palestinians residing in Sudan.

Abbas arived in Khartoum on Tuesday on an official three-day visit to Sudan.

He is heading a delegation of senior Palestinian Authority (PA) officials and will hold talks with Sudanese officials.

Palestine currently has national embassies in 13 African countries, according to WAFA. (T/R07/R01)
