IDB Signs Agreement to Finance Water Supply, Sewer Systems In Kyrgyztan

Bishkek, 29 Rabi’ul Awwal 1438/29 December 2016 (MINA) – The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group signed an agreement worth $20 million with Kyrgyzstan on financing water supply and sewer systems for 24 villages in Jalalabad region, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance in Kyrgyz capital Bishkek on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed by Director of IDB Regional Office in Central Asia Hisham Taleb Maruf and Finance Minister of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev, IINA News reported.

The minister praised the good relations of cooperation between his country and the IDB Group, and the contributions made by the Bank to support the plans and development projects in Kyrgyzstan, since joining as IDB member in November 1993.

He said that the Group’s contributions to the development projects in Kyrgyzstan amounted to around $310 million, covering electric energy sectors, roads, agriculture, health, education and Islamic financial services industry.(T/R04/RS05)
