Cairo, 28 Dzulhijjah 1436/12 October 2015 (MINA) – At the request of the Palestinian Authority, the League of Arab States decided to hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the latest ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, land and holy sites.

The PA called for an emergency meeting to be held on Tuesday, in light of Israel’s escalated violence against the Palestinian people, particularly its assaults against al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, Wafa News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The League’s Deputy Secretary General, Ahmad Bin Hali, said the meeting will focus on discussing the necessary measures that need to be taken against the backdrop of mounting tension across the West Bank districts, including Jerusalem.

This comes amid a seemingly growing uprising in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip districts, marked by renewing clashes – which came in condemnation of Israel’s growing encroachment of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.

Clashes have been erupting across the West Bank over the past couple of weeks, with hundreds of injury cases reported, including some seriously, and the killing of many others.

Israel has been enforcing a temporal division on al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam; severe restrictions have been imposed on Palestinians entry into the mosque, whilst at the same time Israeli settlers are provided with police escort into the compound, a measure which has ignited strong feelings of anger among Palestinians.(T/P008/R03)
