ISRAEL DESTROY THE BIGGEST UNIVERSITY IN GAZA
Gaza, 7 Shawwal 1435/3 August 2014 (MINA) – More than two missiles of Israeli F16 jet hit building of the biggest university in Gaza Strip, Islamic University of Gaza (IUG), on Saturday morning causing massive damages on it.
“Explosion in the campus is very large till it shook central city in Gaza,” a witness told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in Gaza.
However, there was no casualties reported from the attack. The campus was in empty condition as its students was in summer holiday.
Previously, IUG was also a target of Israeli airstrikes in 2008. At that time, the laboratory part was leveled to the ground by the same US-made F-16 warplane missiles.
IUG nominated as the biggest campus in Gaza. Now, three Indonesian people are studying in the university founded by the late Ahmad Yasin in 1978.
Majority of government officials especially in Gaza were alumni of IUG.
According to sources in Palestine, Israeli occupation regime forces attacks had killed 1,654 Palestinians including, 180 women, 364 children, five disabled people and 70 old people. While number of injured victims reached 8910 people including, 1736 women, 2662 children and 340 old people since beginning of July.
Israeli occupation regime forces attacks also destroyed about 172 schools, 25 hospitals and clinics, 108 mosques and more than 9,540 houses. (L/K02/Syt/E01)
