Gaza, MINA – Qatayef is a staple Ramadan dessert that is rarely absent from Iftar tables in the Gaza Strip.
Qatayef pastry is made of a special kind of flour. The batter is poured onto a hot plate, appearing similar to beehives, with only one side cooked in less than a minute, PIC reported.
Qatayef can be served after the pastry is filled with cheese, cream, walnuts, almonds, raisins, cinnamon or peanuts.
It is served either deep-fried or baked with a hot syrup. Some people prefer to eat it raw with some cream.(R/R04/RS5)
