Jakarta,,MINA — President Joko Widodo congratulated Mahathir Mohamad on being elected as the Malaysian prime minister through a smooth general election, Antara News reported.
“I congratulate Pakatan Harapan on winning the 14th Malaysian general election held yesterday,” President Widodo stated here on Friday.

According to a press statement of the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, Widodo had contacted Mohamad on Thursday evening.
Widodo lauded the smooth implementation of Malaysia`s general election.
“I praise the democratic process in Malaysia that was held in a smooth and peaceful manner,” President Widodo added.
While communicating with Mohamad, Widodo remarked that the relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia will be further intensified.

“As cognate states, I believe that under the leadership of Mr Mahathir, the relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia will grow. I pray for Mr Mahathir to be healthy to serve the Malaysian people`s mandate,” Widodo noted.
Mohamad was officially inaugurated as the prime minister of Malaysia in Istana Negara of Damansara on Thursday. (T/RS5/RS1)
