Malaysia-Indonesia Trade to Reach US$30 Billion by 2020
Jakarta, MINA – The total trade between Malaysia and Indonesia is expected to reach US$30 billion (US$1=RM3.91) by 2020, Bernama reported, citing Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation’s Trade Commissioner in Indonesia Naim Abdul Rahman..
He said the focus sectors identified in order to double the trade volume included infrastructure development, transport equipment, halal industry, information technology services, multimedia and franchise business.
“Malaysia’s bilateral trade with Indonesia in 2017 was worth US$16.9 billion,” he said here Thursday.
He said Indonesia is Malaysia’s sixth largest trading partner.
Malaysia invested US$15 billion in Indonesia during the 2008-2016 period, while Indonesia’s investment in Malaysia was worth US$2.6 billion. (T/RS5/RS1)
