Palestinians, OIC Call on World to Support Palestine’s Cause
Gaza, MINA – Several Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip have released statements Wednesday marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, KUNA reported.
Speaking on this occasion, Isamil Radwan, representative of the national and Islamic movements in the Gaza Strip, said that the international community must find a way to enable Palestinians to form their independent state within the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital of the future country.
He noted that such dream would only be possible through national reconciliation amongst Palestinians, affirming that the recent efforts to bring Palestinians together was commended by all sides.
On his part, member of the political portfolio of the democratic front Mahmoud Khalaf said that the UN should bear responsibility for the suffering caused against the Palestinian people in the last 70 years.
This situation would have not happened if the world stood against the heinous acts that resulted in the creation of Israel on Palestinian lands, said Khalaf.
The Israeli state is carrying out several violations against the Palestinian people and this policy should be met by a serious stance by the international community, affirmed Khalaf who revealed that about 60 percent of historic Palestinian lands was confiscated from their rightful owners.
Meanwhile, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) released a statement in support of the Palestinian cause.
OIC Secretary General Yousef Al-Othaimeen said that the Islamic world stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their quest to achieve independence and international recognition for their state.
He affirmed that the OIC was against all violations committed by Israel during its existence of historical lands owned by the Palestinian people, indicating that justice will not prevail as long as the world stood in silence against what Israel was committing.
In 1977, the UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. (T/RS5/RS1)
