Bengkulu, MINA – A powerful 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Bengkulu Province in Indonesia early Friday morning, damaging at least 255 homes, according to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
The quake occurred at 2:52 a.m. local time on May 23 and was felt across several areas in the province, including Bengkulu City and Central Bengkulu Regency. The shaking caused widespread damage, particularly to residential buildings.
BNPB continues to assess the impact of the disaster and is working with local authorities to coordinate relief efforts and provide emergency assistance to affected families.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and to follow safety instructions from local emergency services, as aftershocks may still occur.[]
