5,347 BABIES BORN IN GAZA DURING ISRAELI OCCUPATION AGGRESSION

Gaza, 8 Dzulqa’dah 1435/3 September 2014 (MINA) – The Palestinian Interior Ministry in Gaza announced 5,347 babies were born in Gaza, while as many as 2140 people died during the 51-days Israeli aggression against the blockded enclave.

“At least 5,347 babies were born and the government has given 5,300 birth certificates to the communities scattered in five provinces,” Gaza Interior Ministry stated in its official press statement received by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) in Gaza, Tuesday.

“In Gaza City, there were 1700 births, Khan Younis, 1,100 births, Rafah, 800births, North Gaza, 747 births and Central Gaza, 1000 births,” the release stated.

In addition, the ministry also gave death certificate to the martyrs of 2140 Gazans as the result of Zionist Israeli occupation aggression. Based on each region, in Gaza City, there were 578 deaths, Khan Younis, 530 deaths, Rafah, 400 deaths, North Gaza, 350 deaths and Central Gaza, 282 deaths.

Israeli paper, Yedioth Ahronouth, explained that  Israeli occupation regime had suffered heavy losses from various sectors, such as tourism, agriculture and  military in their aggression on Gaza Strip for  51 days.

In the tourism sector, the Israeli media declared that  Israeli occupation regime suffered  loss around $566 million.The sector  decreased about  26 percent from the same period last year. The sector  supported  seven percent of  Israeli economy.

Israeli Manufacturers Association estimated that their total of the economic loss in  first round of Israeli aggression reached  $358.5 million. Factories in south of Israeli occupation regime contributed  40 percent of the loss, while  manufacturers in Haifa and other city contributed about 50 persen of the loss, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in Gaza reported.

Israeli exports experience  significant slowdown in second quarter in 2014.  The volume of the exports fell to 1.7 percent from 2.8 percent in the first quarter. It caused Bank of Israel cutting  its interest rate to its lowest level over the last five years, 1.5 per cent on last July 28.

Agriculture sector suffered significant losses. According to  its laws, Israeli government required to compensate for absent workers who live at 40 kilometers from Gaza border.
Israeli military sector also suffered losses. Official statement from the Israeli military said at least 64 Israeli soldiers and six people  killed by fighters of Gaza. The statement is different from fighters of Gaza. The fighters stated that 160 Israeli soldiers killed and thousands others injured. (L/K01/R03/P3)
