Kuala Lumpur, 20 Jumadil Akhir 1436/9 April 2015 (MINA) – Some 130 companies are now operating at halal industrial parks in Malaysia with a total investment of RM8.5 billion, BERNAMA reported.

International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed said the parks had generated more than 5,000 employment opportunities for the local population in various industries.

He said the industries included food, cosmetics, ingredients, pharmaceuticals and livestock, IINA News quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

“There are 21 halal industrial parks in the country, of which 19 are managed by the federal government and state governments, while two are owned by the private sector,” Mustapa said in a written reply to Su Keong Siong of the Democratic Action Party (DAP-Ipoh Timur) at the Malaysian parliament (Dewan Rakyat) Tuesday.
