US Condemned for Deporting Odeh

West Bank, (MINA) – The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has strongly denounced the US authorities for deporting Rasmea Odeh, a Palestinian ex-detainee in Israeli jails, to Jordan after living in the country for over 20 years.

In a press release on Thursday, the commission said “such measure against Odeh is clear evidence that the Palestinian ex-detainees are targeted by Israel and its partners in the world.”

Palestinian Information Center reported, Odeh was convicted of immigration fraud in 2014 and sentenced to 18 months in prison, and deportation for failing to disclose her conviction on bombing charges by an Israeli military court more than 40 years ago when she applied for US citizenship.

Odeh says her conviction at the time by an Israeli court happened following weeks of torture and physical abuse in Israeli custody. Her supporters say she was targeted over her support for Palestinian liberation.

Last Tuesday, Odeh addressed a crowd of friends and supporters who gathered at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport to say goodbye before she was flown to Jordan.(T/RE1/P2)
