Two Members of Women’s Boat to Gaza Freed

Kuala Lumpur, 06 Muharram 1438/07 October 2016 (MINA) – Two members of the humanitarian mission, ‘Women’s Boat to Gaza (WBG)’, who were detained by the Israeli authorities, have been released, Bernama reported on Friday.

According to the Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) spokesperson, those freed were Al-Jazeera reporter from the United Kingdom Mina Harballou and Russian Hoda Rakhme.

“However, Malaysia’s sole representative in the mission, Dr Fauziah Mohd Hasan is still being detained in a detention centre near the Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv),” said the spokesperson when contacted by Bernama.

The spokesperson said according to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which oversees the WBG mission, human rights lawyers were still trying to contact all members of the mission in an effort to free them.

Israeli soldiers detained the 13 activists and crew members on board the Zaytouna-Oliva ship at 2.58pm local time (9.58pm Malaysia time).
