Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung, MINA — Entrepreneurs from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia are participating in the 2018 Bangka Belitung International Halal Seminar to encourage micro, small, and medium business players to improve product quality and capacity to become globally competitive, Antara News reported.

“Alhamdulillah (All praise is only for Allah), dozens of businessmen from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia are taking part in the Babel International Halal Seminar,” Zayadi Rosman, president director of the Indonesian Ulema Council of Bangka Belitung (Babel) Islands Province, remarked after opening the halal international seminar here, Wednesday.

He added that 250 micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs across Babel Islands and some 40 businesses from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia had participated in the seminar.

“We hope the presence of foreign and domestic businessmen at this event would help the local SMEs in packaging and marketing their products that cater to the international market,” Rosman noted.

According to Rosman, the event is aimed at helping small and medium businesses to market their products abroad, especially to Malaysia and Thailand.

This seminar is also expected to serve as a platform to build cooperation between entrepreneurs and micro, small, and medium players to help the latter develop their businesses.

“All products of MSMEs are good, but the packaging is still not attractive,” he pointed out.

Secretary of Babel Islands Province Yan Megawandi lauded the halal international seminar, as it will accelerate the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the province.

“We hope that MSME players would obtain halal certification for their products, so that they can penetrate the international market, as currently, halal certificate is required in the international market,” he added. (T/RS5/RS1)
