The construction of Indonesian Hospital in Gaza for Phase Two to BegIin Soon
Jakarta, MINA – The Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) plans to begin the second phase of the construction works for the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, Palestine, by adding two additional floors and medical equipment in the near future.
The Operational Manager of MER-C, Rima Manzanaris said it would do the construction works once permission to enter Gaza is approved by local authorities. MER-C itself has prepared at least 30 volunteers who are ready to depart.
“We are ready anytime. Just waiting for permission. We have prepared 30 volunteers. This second phase of development will take about one to two years, “she told MINA at the MER-C Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/6).
Rima said not to be sure when the construction will begin. It is still waiting for permission to enter Gaza.
“We can not be sure when it started. If the permit is out, we are ready, “she said.
Rima explained, the construction of RS Indonesia in Gaza phase two will cost around Rp 75 billion to Rp 80 billion. That much funding includes two floors along with complete and modern medical equipment.
The Indonesian hospital in Gaza itself began construction since 2010 and was inaugurated in 2015 by Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Currently, the RS Indonesia has two floors containing about 100 patient beds.
The MER-C plans to add 100 new patient beds .. The amount is considered sufficient considering the current Indonesian hospital in Gaza has handled thousands of patients.
“The info we received that 100 beds owned by RS Indonesia is still lacking. So we will add 100 more beds. From the beginning the hospital is designed for four to five floors,” she said. (L/R06 /B05/RS5)
