The Consequences That Come with Being Muslims

If we have declared as Muslims, then as a consequence we should be submissive and obedient to the terms outlined by Allah in Islam as the only religion recognized in His side, in order to survive in this world and hereafter.

It is in accordance with the meaning of Islam, which is derived from the word of “aslama” which means surrender.

Allah says in the Qur’an :

Means: “Are they seeking a religion other than the religion of Allah, when unto Him submitteth whosoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and unto Him they will be returned”. (Surah Ali Imran [3]: 83).

The word Islam can also be derived from the word “istaslama – tasliim – mustaslimun”, which means: a complete surrender. As also stated in the Qur”an:

It means ” But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge about whatever arises between them and then do not find within themselves any discomfort about what you have decided and submit in full submission.”.” (QS An-Nisa [4] : 65)

Islam can also be interpreted as “saliim”, meaning: clean, pure. So, people who are Muslims in essence should be clean or pure and have clean heart and pure intentions.  Allah says:

Means: “”except those facing Allah with a clean heart”. (QS Asysyu’ara [26]: 89).

And Islam also means “salaam,” meaning: prosperity

Means: “And those who keep their duty to their Allah are driven unto the Garden in troops till, when they reach it, and the gates thereof are opened, and the warders thereof say unto them: “Welfare (bestowed) on you! Ye are good, so enter ye (the Garden of delight), to dwell therein”. (QS Az-Zumar [39] : 73).

In another verse it is mentioned also the meaning of Islam is “salam”, which means: peace.

It means: “So do not weak and call for peace while you are superior, and Allah is with you and will never deprive you of (reward of) your deeds.” (QS Muhammad [47]: 35).

So, if we claim to be Muslim, it has a number of consequences, namely giving up completely with a clean heart to God’s provision in order to obtain prosperity, peace, salvation in this world and hereafter.

Hopefully we can be a Muslim as well as possible. Aamiin. (RS-2/RS5)
