The 2019 National Technology Awakening Day Held in Bali

Jakarta, MINA – The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) once again held a series of events commemorating National Technology Awakening Day (Harteknas) in 2019 to foster innovation in order to increase the nation’s competitiveness.

The National Hakteknas commemoration on August 10, 2019, and the peak of its activities took place from August 25-28, held in the city of Denpasar, Bali.

The 24th National Hakteknas takes the theme “Science and Innovation in Creative Industries 4.0” with the tagline “Innovation, Building the Nation.”

The launching of the 2019 Hakteknas was carried out by Menristekdikti Mohamad Nasir with the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster in front of around 50 thousand students from all Balinese universities in the Puputan Margarana Field, Niti Mandala Renon, Denpasar City, Bali on February 21, 2019, ago.

Minister explained that this was the third time the Hakteknas Commemoration event was held outside of Java. Previously, the 22nd Hakteknas Commemoration was held in Makassar, South Sulawesi (2017), and the 23rd Hakteknas in Pekanbaru, Riau (2018).

Bali Province was chosen because it has tourism potential, culture, creative industries, entrepreneurs, higher education institutions, researchers, and innovators, as well as an international class.

Harteknas is one of the milestones in the rise of Indonesian technology marked by the inaugural flight of the nation’s design aircraft, N-250 Gatotkaca on August 10, 1995, in Bandung.

“The National Hakteknas commemoration should not be elitist. The meaning must be extended to the general public. The expansion of meaning emphasizes sustainability and competitiveness of local products that provide meaningful added value processes, “the minister said.

Series of Hakteknas-24 Activities

The series of Hakteknas activities include Innovation Services, Healthy Walking and Competition, Scientific Activities, Talkshow Series (TV and Radio), Welcome Dinner, Peak Appreciation Night Event, Innovation Award, Innovation for Children of the Nation (‘Eye-Catching’), and Research, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (Ritech Expo) in 2019.

The 24th Hakteknas commemoration will also be filled with international scientific activities in the form of scientific gatherings, seminars, workshops and symposiums attended by Asian, European and African countries.

Meanwhile, the peak of the 24th Hakteknas commemoration in 2019 will be centered at Puputan-Margarana Field, Denpasar, Bali on Wednesday, August 28. (T/Sj/P2)
