RAFAH CROSSING CLOSED FOR 126 DAYS RUNNING
Rafah, 24 Rajab 1436/13 May 2015 (MINA) – Since the beginning of 2014, the Egyptian authorities continue to close the Rafah border crossing for 126 days in a raw, deepening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian authorities justified the continued closure of Rafah crossing under the pretext of security tensions in Sinai Governorate, where the crossing was only opened for few separate days before some humanitarian cases, Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
90,000 Palestinians are in dire need to travel via Rafah crossing including 15,000 patients and students.
Director of the Gaza’s Department of the crossings, Maher Abu Sabha, has repeatedly called on Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah crossing permanently due to the very deterioration humanitarian situation in the besieged strip. (T/P006/R04)
