President Abbas to Netanyahu during Peres’ Funeral, “Long Time No See”

Ramallah, 29 Dzulhijjah 1437/01 October 2016 (MINA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, heading a delegation, attended funeral of the former Israeli president Shimon Peres on Friday, KUNA reported, quoting local media.

President Abbas and officials accompanying him shook hands with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanhau, and the president said “we have not met since a long time ago,” before proceeding to his seat in the front row of the attendees.

Peres, co-architect of the Oslo peace accord inked in the early 90s, was buried in Jerusalem in a mass funeral, attended by VIPs namely US President Barack Obama.

The Palestinian president had cabled Peres’ family expressing distress and grief for his demise, stating that the late president and premier was “a partner of the peace of the brave,” along with the late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat and the former Israeli premier, Yitzah Rabin.
