Amman, MINA – The Palestinian National Council (PNC) on Tuesday called for mobilizing energies to complete the implementation of the reconciliation agreement in order to strengthen the “internal front” embodied in the Palestine Liberation Organization.

The PNC affirmed in a statement that the reconciliation is going to be an important step toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, PIC reported.

On 29th anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence, the PNC said that this national achievement was made by the sacrifices of the Palestinian people who will continue their fight against the Israeli occupation and will never accept any solution that deprives them of their right to self-determination.

The 15th November marks the anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence proclaimed by late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat in 1988.

The Declaration enjoyed the support of many countries around the world, and on 13th December 1988, more than 80 countries recognized the independence of Palestine before the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Palestinians’ hopes for an independent Palestinian state seem to be unachievable after 29 years have passed since the Declaration was issued in view of the frozen peace process and the ongoing Israeli settlement construction in the occupied Palestinian territories.(R/R04/RS5)
