PHILIPPINE MUSLIM COMMUNITY SLAMS ISRAELI ZIONIST ATTACKS ON GAZA
Manila, 16 Ramadan 1435/14 July 2014 (MINA) – Governor of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in the Philippines, Mujiv Hataman condemned Zionist Israeliattacks on Gaza and appealed to United Nations to stop further destruction and loss of life in the disputed area.
“Moro people in Mindanao stand in solidarity with Gazans, all Palestinians and other innocent victims of war. Both parties in the area must exercise utmost restraint and resort to dialogue or peaceful negotiation,” said Mujiv Hataman, on Sunday (13/7), Xinhua and Global Times quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
“We call on international media to amplify the voices of the oppressed and not turn a deaf ear. We call on world leaders to take a stand and not to take a double standard in this crime against humanity,” he added.
Jerome Succor Aba, spokesperson for Suara Bangsamoro, said they will hold a rally to convey outrage against Israel’s recent attacks in Palestine during the holy month of Ramadhan.
“We join other groups worldwide in strongly condemning the merciless attack of the Israeli government against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The indiscriminate attack is a grave contempt in the observance of the holy month of Ramadhan,” said Aba.
“We urge international bodies to exercise their obligations to protect and uphold human rights regardless of religion, nationality, gender or class,” he added.
The Philippine government has advised overseas Filipino workers to leave Gaza Strip and return to the country in view of the growing threats in the Gaza Strip.
The country’s foreign affairs department said the Philippine embassies in Cairo, Tel Aviv and Amman will assist Filipinos who are ready to leave the area.(T/Nidiya/E01)
