Mina, 15 Dzulhijjah 1437/17 September 2016 (MINA) – Emaduddin Hamasho, a Palestinian pilgrim, could not believe his eyes when he saw his mother for the first time after a separation of five years due to the Israeli siege of Gaza, Saudi Gazette reported.

Hamasho came for Haj as an invitee of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman who hosted 1,000 family members of Palestinian martyrs.

“The King’s noble program has helped break the Israeli blockade on Gaza,” Hamasho said, adding that had it not been for King Salman he would never have met his mother.

The mother is living with his siblings in Riyadh. She performed Haj this year with the hope of seeing her son.

“My happiness was too much to express. I could not believe my eyes that this woman in front of me was my dear mother,” Hamasho said.

He said he had no hope of seeing his mother ever again because of the Israeli blockade.

“I did not have the remotest idea that I would be seeing my mother in the holiest place on earth,” he added.

Hamasho said the first thing he did when he arrived in the Kingdom was to call his mother to tell her that he was finally able to make it to the Kingdom thanks to King Salman.

“When I called her from Jeddah, I felt so close to her. I could hear her breath and feel her warmth,” he said.

Hamasho said the first thing he did when he met his mother was to kiss her head and hands and give her a hug to compensate for the long years of separation.

He expressed profound thanks to the Saudi government and the people for the generous hospitality and warm welcome.

“I have never received such a warm welcome before,” he said. (T/R07/R01)
