Ramallah, MINA – The Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomed Friday President Donald Trump’s latest remarks regarding US efforts to revive the peace process in the Middle East.
Trump’s statements came during a joint press conference with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Washington D.C. Thursrday.
“President Trump’s declarations can be a strong message to the other side who is trying by all means to mess with efforts being made through expanding their settlements,” KUNA reported, citing the ministry in a statement.
The American President reaffirmed yesterday the existence of a true opportunity to achieve peace between Palestinians and Israelis, stressing out the serious efforts made by his country in this regards.
Palestinians expressed their desire to continue supporting efforts made by President Trump to resume negotiations and speed up the peace process.
They called on the US administration to take a clearer action toward the issue of Israeli settlements and the two states solution according to international laws.
President Mahmoud Abbas will meet with his American counterpart on the sidelines of UN General Assembly meetings later this month. (T/RS5/RS1)
