Palestinian FM : Kuwait Has Been Backing Palestinian Cause Since Early Beginnings
Nouakchot, 19 Syawwal 1437/24 July 2016 (MINA) – Palestinian Foreign Minister Riadh Al-Maliki commended on Saturday strong relations with the State of Kuwait, which has been a solid supporter of the Palestinians.
Al-Maliki, in a statement to KUNA after a preparatory Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting, said Kuwait, whether His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah or the government, has been backing the Palestinian cause since the early beginnings.
Kuwait, he noted, allocated USD 200 million to rebuild the Gaza Strip following the Israeli aggress against the besieged enclanve.
Al-Maliki described the relations between Kuwait and Palestine as “excellent,” noting the visit of First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Palestine, which resulted in formation of a ministerial committee.
The preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers began Saturday ahead of the 27th Arab Summit which will be held Monday in the city of Nouakchott.
Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit indicated in remarks today that among the agenda topics which will be discussed by the foreign ministers will be fighting terrorism, the Syrian crisis, the Palestinian conflict, the situations in Iraq, Yemen, and Libya. (T/R07/R01)
